Résumé

An unprecedented insider's look at one of cinema's landmark works and the lasting effect it still has on our culture, this oral and visual history of "Do the Right Thing"-- celebrating the movie's twentieth anniversary -- is told entirely by those who starred in and worked on the film.

Among the dozens of participants who will be featured are writer-director-costar Spike Lee; performers Danny Aiello, John Turturro, Rosie Perez, Martin Lawrence, and Ruby Dee; as well as cinematographer Ernest Dickerson, former Universal Pictures chairman Tom Pollock, and Public Enemy's Chuck D.

Each chapter of the book concentrates on a different aspect of the film and includes behind-the-scenes photographs and a facsimile reproduction of the original script. Readers will be given firsthand accounts of how Lee cast the movie and even how it helped bring President Barack Obama and the First Lady together on their first date.
